KARACHI: The son of Onijah Andrew Robinson, a U.S. woman who traveled to Pakistan to marry a 19-year-old lover, has made alarming claims about his mother’s condition. Jeremiah Andrew Robinson revealed that Onijah suffers from mental instability and impaired cognitive abilities.
Jeremiah explained that his mother traveled to Pakistan to meet her online lover and his family but failed to return after the agreed two-week stay. Despite attempts to convince her to come back, Onijah refused. He and his brother even purchased a return ticket for her, but she declined to use it.
Earlier, Onijah, a 33-year-old woman from the U.S., caused a stir in Karachi following her failed relationship with the local teenager. She claimed to have converted to Islam and married Nidal Memon, the 19-year-old, but upon arriving in Pakistan, discovered that he had disappeared from his home before she could meet him.
Onijah was offered a return ticket to the U.S., but she chose to stay and go to her lover's residence, where she remained in the parking area without meeting Nidal. Eventually, Onijah was taken to the Tipu Sultan police station after local guesthouses reportedly refused to accommodate her. Later, she was moved to the Chippa Welfare Organisation’s office.
Onijah, from New York, came to Pakistan in October 2024, allegedly for love. She had been convinced by Nidal, who had promised to marry her. However, when his family learned that Onijah was nearly twice his age, they disapproved of the relationship, and Nidal left her stranded. Onijah's visa expired, leaving her stranded in Pakistan for several days until she was assisted by local authorities.
