GAZA CITY: The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has raised alarm over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, warning that Israel’s continued blockade on aid is leading to an increased risk of disease outbreaks and further deaths. According to the WHO, over 10,000 Palestinians urgently require medical evacuation abroad due to critical injuries and a collapsing healthcare system.

Dr. Tedros emphasized that without immediate and unhindered humanitarian access, thousands more lives are at risk. “Hospitals are overwhelmed, medical supplies are running out, and many of the wounded cannot be treated properly within Gaza,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes continue to pummel the besieged enclave. At least 29 Palestinians have been killed since dawn on Thursday in attacks across various parts of Gaza, according to medical sources cited by Al Jazeera. Reports indicate that the strikes have targeted residential areas, resulting in rising civilian casualties, including women and children.

The ongoing conflict and restricted humanitarian access have exacerbated Gaza’s already dire conditions. Aid organizations are calling for an immediate ceasefire and international intervention to allow for medical evacuations and the flow of essential supplies. The situation remains critical.
