Pakistan, China pledge to boost bilateral relations

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met on Tuesday to discuss the strengthening of Pakistan-China bilateral ties and reaffirm their commitment to enhancing their strategic partnership.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of the Pak-China all-weather strategic partnership, which remains a cornerstone of their bilateral relations. They also reviewed the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, recognizing it as a major initiative to boost economic cooperation and improve regional connectivity.

Ambassador Jiang, representing Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, extended an invitation to Deputy Prime Minister Dar to attend the High-Level UN Security Council Event titled “Practicing Multilateralism, Reforming and Improving Global Governance,” which will be hosted by China under its presidency of the UNSC on February 18, 2025, in New York.

DPM Dar accepted the invitation, highlighting Pakistan’s continued commitment to multilateralism and international cooperation. He emphasized that Pakistan values its strong ties with China and is dedicated to working together to further enhance their economic, political, and strategic relations. Both sides agreed to continue deepening collaboration on key regional and global issues, reinforcing the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
