Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated on Friday that Pakistan had been in communication with the United States regarding the country's energy requirements. Speaking at her weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Baloch acknowledged having seen the US statement regarding Pakistan's interest in sourcing energy from Iran.

Following Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's visit to Pakistan, a State Department spokesperson cautioned Islamabad about the "potential risk of sanctions" associated with engaging in business dealings with Iran. Baloch emphasized that there existed cooperation for trade on a preferential basis between Pakistan and Iran. She mentioned that discussions on the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline were held and reflected in the subsequent joint statement.

Furthermore, Baloch highlighted discussions on the trade route between the Gwadar and Chabahar ports with the Iranian president, underscoring the robust bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran.

Regarding Israel's actions in Palestine, Baloch condemned the atrocities and reiterated Pakistan's call for an international investigation. She noted alignment between Pakistan and Iran on the issues of Gaza and Kashmir.

Additionally, Baloch informed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would embark on a tour to Saudi Arabia on April 28 and participate in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Gambia.
