In a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Shehbaz expressed Pakistan's eagerness to collaborate with the US for global peace, security, and regional development. Both nations are actively engaged in various sectors such as energy, climate change, agriculture, health, and education.
Furthermore, Shehbaz welcomed cooperation in the energy sector and the Green Alliance Initiative. President Biden's outreach marks a departure from previous administrations' engagement with Pakistani leaders, highlighting a willingness to work with the new government despite concerns over election integrity.
Although the US's focus has shifted post-Afghanistan withdrawal, Pakistan remains vital for regional security and counter-terrorism efforts. While American civilian leadership has shown lukewarm interest, the military establishment emphasizes maintaining ties with Pakistan, as noted in recent testimonies before US Senate committees by US CENTCOM chief Michael Kurilla.
