ISLAMABAD: Pakistan shared relief plan in electricity bills with IMF. Finance Ministry has given written confirmation to IMF to collect August and September bills in installments. According to details, after approval from IMF, consumers who have consumed 400 unit will get relief to pay bill in installments.

According to sources in Ministry of Finance, IMF may agree to receive electricity bills from consumers if IMF agrees, there may be an agreement for 2 months. An answer is likely to be received today from IMF on relief in electricity bills. While there will be no relief for tax reduction, however, consent to receive bill in installments may be obtained. It is to mention that yesterday caretaker government had submitted proposals to IMF for relief in electricity bills. Caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar had virtual interaction with IMF representative Esther Perez.

Sources of Finance Ministry said that discussion was held with IMF for relief in electricity bills.

IMF was informed about situation after increase in electricity bills. IMF was briefed on stance of government for relief.
