ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled its 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Pakistan from April 9-19. The team, led by Fatima Sana, will aim to secure one of the two remaining spots in the 13th edition of the ICC Women's 50-over World Cup, set to be held in India later this year.
Pakistan is one of the six teams competing in the qualifier tournament, which will be played in a round-robin format. The participating teams include hosts Pakistan, West Indies, Thailand, Scotland, Ireland, and Bangladesh. Each team will face every other team once, and the top two teams at the end of the group stage will qualify for the prestigious Women's Cricket World Cup in India.
Fatima Sana, the pace all-rounder who captained Pakistan during last year's ICC Women's T20 World Cup, will continue to lead the team in the qualifiers. Notably, all-rounder Nida Dar, who was among the 19 players called for the training camp, has been excluded from the final squad.
The squad also sees the return of young talent Shawaal Zulfiqar, who missed out on cricket due to a shoulder injury but is now making her comeback to the national side after a break since 2023. The PCB has expressed confidence in the team's ability to perform well in the qualifiers and secure a spot in the Women's Cricket World Cup.
Pakistan's ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 squad includes Fatima Sana (captain), Najiha Alvi, Gull Feroza, Sidra Amin, Omaima Sohail, Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sundhu, Muneeba Ali, Rameen Shamim, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Syeda Aroob Shah, Natalia Parvaiz, and Sidra Nawaz.
