Naila Kiani, Pakistan's most accomplished female climber, achieved another significant milestone by becoming the first Pakistani woman to successfully ascend Cho Oyu, which stands at 8,188 meters and is the world's sixth-highest peak.
On her expedition with the Imagine Nepal team, including Sirbaz Khan, Naila reached the summit of Cho Oyu at 12:30 pm Nepal Time. This accomplishment marks her tenth peak above 8,000 meters, solidifying her status as the first and only Pakistani woman to conquer 10 eight-thousanders.
In an impressive feat, Naila and Sirbaz Khan jointly reached the summit of Cho Oyu, becoming the first Pakistanis to do so together.
Naila Kiani's mountaineering journey includes scaling Gasherbrum II in 2021, followed by successful summits of K2 and Gasherbrum I in 2022. Starting in April of the current year, she has scaled Annapurna, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Manaslu, and Cho Oyu, marking her as the first Pakistani to climb seven peaks in just six months.
Karrar Haidri from the Alpine Club of Pakistan praised Naila's determination, highlighting her remarkable achievement in challenging conditions with poor visibility and hostile weather conditions during the more than 28-hour climb.
Wishing Naila Kiani a safe return from this extraordinary adventure, he expressed the collective hope and prayers of all involved.
