KARACHI: A peaceful protest titled Stand with Palestine was organized under the auspices of NED University of Engineering and Technology, expressing solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine. The demonstration was held in the university premises where a two-minute silence was observed in memory of the victims of Israeli aggression.
Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Noman Ahmed, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the importance of raising voices from academic platforms against injustice and inhuman atrocities. He stated that expressing concern and showing support for Palestine is not only a humanitarian responsibility but also a moral duty. “We will continue to do whatever we can to support Gaza,” he added, condemning the brutality inflicted on Palestinian children, the elderly, women, and unarmed civilians.
Dr. Shahneela Zardari also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the silence of the international community in the face of Israeli oppression. She termed this silence as criminal and praised Pakistan’s unwavering stance on the issue, reaffirming that the country has always stood by the Palestinian cause.
Dr. Hira Lodhi remarked that as a united nation, Pakistanis must continue to raise their voices and stand in favor of Palestine.
According to a university spokesperson, a significant number of students, faculty members, and administrative staff participated in the demonstration, making it a powerful and unified show of solidarity. The protest concluded with prayers for peace in Palestine and an end to violence and occupation.
