The prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) in Pakistan are anticipated to decrease by Rs8 to Rs10 per litre each on November 15 for the next two weeks, attributed to lower global market prices.
This reduction is expected to impact private transport, rickshaws, and agricultural machinery, providing relief to the middle and lower-middle class.
Despite global price declines, the devaluation of the rupee against the dollar has somewhat offset the consumer benefits. HSD, crucial for heavy transport and agriculture, has become $9 per barrel cheaper, while petrol prices dropped by a dollar. Inflation, driven by petroleum and electricity costs, reached 27% in October, with a looming increase in gas rates from November 1.
