The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regained its 'bat' symbol for elections following the Peshawar High Court's (PHC) reversal of the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) decision that had revoked the party's use of the 'bat' symbol.
PTI approached the Peshawar High Court to challenge the ECP's ruling, which nullified their intra-party election and withdrew their electoral symbol, the 'bat'.
A two-member bench at the PHC, consisting of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Arshad Ali, delivered the verdict, annulling the ECP's directive and permitting PTI to participate in elections using the 'bat' symbol. The court additionally instructed the electoral body to publish PTI's certificate on its website.
Earlier, on January 3, another PHC ruling had lifted the stay order and upheld the ECP's decision to invalidate PTI's intra-party polls and strip them of the 'bat' symbol. Justice Ejaz Khan, presiding over a single-member bench, announced this decision in response to a review plea filed by the ECP against the earlier December 26 bench order.
