KARACHI: The Sindh government, led by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has announced the exemption of fares for the Pink Bus Service, specifically catering to women, for the next two months.
Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon made the declaration during the inauguration ceremony of two new routes, R3 and R9, aimed at providing exclusive services for women. The R3 route spans from North Karachi Chowrangi to Korangi Nasir Jump, while R9 connects Gulshan-e-Hadid to Tower, offering increased connectivity and accessibility for women across various parts of the city.
Memon, speaking at the event, announced the complimentary provision of the pink bus service for the following two months, affirming the government's commitment to fulfilling its pledges to the public.
Faryal Talpur, the chief guest at the ceremony, commended the collaborative efforts of the Sindh Transport Minister, expressing appreciation for their dedicated initiatives to enhance women's welfare and mobility in Karachi.
Earlier, on April 15, Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon had introduced two additional routes for the Pink People’s Bus Service in Karachi. The Pink Bus Service currently operates on the R1 route, running from Model Colony Malir to Tower via Shahrah-e-Faisal. Another route, R10 for the Peoples Pink Bus Service (exclusively for women), will commence from Numaish Chowrangi, traversing through M.A Jinnah Road, Zaibunissa Street, Metropol, Do Talwar, Teen Talwar, Mazar e Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Dolman Mall, and concluding at the Sea view clock tower.
