ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has intervened to address gas supply disruptions during Sehr and Iftar in Ramadan, directing immediate action for uninterrupted service.

In an emergency meeting, the PM engaged with SSGC and SNGPL officials to resolve low gas pressure issues, Express News reported. Following the meeting, SSGC announced a 10% increase in gas pressure and prioritized supply to end-line areas 30-45 minutes before Sehr and Iftar.

To monitor the situation, SSGC has set up control rooms at head and regional offices for real-time issue resolution. Meanwhile, SNGPL has pledged to follow the PM’s directives, assuring stable gas supply and urging citizens to report issues via the 1199 helpline.

Despite official assurances, residents in Karachi, including Liaquatabad, Federal Capital Area, North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, PIB Colony, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, faced gas shortages during Iftar.

SSGC denied reports of widespread outages, stating that 95% of areas receive gas, while complaints persist in 5% of regions.

Earlier, SSGC had announced a Ramadan gas schedule, ensuring supply from 3:30 pm to 10:00 pm and 3:00 am to 9:00 am, with suspensions from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm and 10:00 pm to 3:00 am.
