Karachi: The Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) announcement of scheduling elections for February 11, 2024, has been positively received by major political parties like the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and MQM-P. PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira emphasized the importance of a level playing field for transparent elections.
PML-N's Zubair Umar expressed readiness for the polls, and MQM-P's Amin Ul Haque also welcomed the ECP's decision. In a separate development, the Supreme Court directed the ECP to consult with the President of Pakistan regarding the final election date in the country, in response to pleas advocating timely elections within 90 days of assembly dissolution.
