ISLAMABAD: Reports indicate that K-electric customers could face another increase in electricity rates, potentially rising by Rs 3.02 per unit.
K-Electric has submitted a request for an upward adjustment in rates for the period spanning April to June 2023. Following a review and decision by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), the proposal will be referred to the federal government.
In a prior development, NEPRA had already raised the electricity tariff for K-Electric consumers as part of the monthly fuel adjustment charges. Prices had risen by Rs 1.48 to Rs 4.45 after securing the federal government's endorsement. This revised tariff would apply during October and November 2023, with varying adjustments for different customer categories.
