The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leadership strongly refuted rumors of engaging in seat adjustment with the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) for the upcoming general election slated for February 8, 2024.
Sources close to the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting disclosed that party leaders expressed dismay over the circulating news regarding any potential seat arrangement with the PML-N. They explicitly stated that such an alliance was entirely out of consideration.
Emphasizing that a seat adjustment with PML-N would not yield benefits for PPP, party leaders highlighted that PML-N stands as their primary political rival in the imminent elections.
During the meeting, discussions also referenced a meeting between PPP senior leader Khurshid Shah and PML-N's Ayaz Sadiq. Khurshid Shah clarified the context of the meeting to the party leadership.
The PPP leadership sought to clarify that certain misconceptions arose from the depiction of the meeting between Khurshid Shah and Ayaz Sadiq, prompting the party to openly deny any news of seat adjustments with PML-N.
