KARACHI: Former President Asif Ali Zardari expressed confidence in the country's progression toward transparent elections, emphasizing the People's Party's readiness for the upcoming general elections.

Scheduled for February 8 next year, the Election Commission of Pakistan announced the election date, receiving Zardari's complete trust in conducting a transparent electoral process.

As the co-chairman of the PPP, Zardari asserted the party's unique capability to contest elections regardless of the environment and hoped for their emergence as the majority party on February 8. He highlighted the conducive atmosphere in the country, stressing the importance of timely elections.

Recent meetings between envoys of the UK and the US with leaders of various political parties, including PPP and PML-N, aimed to gather insights and address concerns about the electoral process and campaigning. UK High Commissioner Jane Marriott met Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi, while US Ambassador Donald Blome engaged with PPP leader Yousaf Raza Gilani in Multan and also met other political figures like Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Khan Tareen.
