Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has stated that President Arif Alvi violated the Constitution by not specifying a date for the general elections.
The comments were made during a hearing on petitions seeking timely elections within 90 days of assembly dissolution, with CJP Isa leading a three-member bench.
The pleas were filed by various entities, including the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to ensure elections are held within the prescribed timeframe. The hearing also discussed the responsibilities of the Election Commission and the president regarding election dates.
