LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched a new initiative to provide free housing plots to homeless individuals across the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the allocation of 3-marla plots for deserving families in need of shelter.
Under the first phase of this initiative, a total of 1,892 plots will be distributed across 33 schemes in 22 districts. The Rawalpindi Division will receive 685 plots across five schemes, while Faisalabad Division will be allocated 288 plots in four schemes. Lahore Region, covering three districts, will receive 518 plots through five schemes.
Other regions, including Bhakkar, Multan, and Bahawalpur, will also benefit from the scheme. Areas such as Chiniot, Jhang, Okara, Bhakkar, Vehari, Rajanpur, and Bahawalpur are among the locations set to receive these plots.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that providing shelter to the underprivileged is not merely an act of charity, but a fundamental responsibility of the government. This initiative aims to ensure that the homeless are provided with secure and dignified living spaces, promoting welfare and social equity.
The free housing plot scheme is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to uplift marginalized communities and address homelessness, offering individuals and families a chance for a better life and improved standard of living.
