In several areas across Punjab, including Lahore, there's a noticeable shortage of gas due to a decrease in temperatures.
Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) sources have indicated that residents in these regions are experiencing gas deficits during specific times of the day—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—due to an increased disparity between demand and supply caused by colder weather.
The demand for gas stands at 2100 million cubic feet, while the supply hovers around 1200 million cubic feet, creating a significant shortfall.
Recently, Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) introduced fixed charges in November's billing for consumers, a decision sanctioned by the caretaker government. As per officials, protected consumers utilizing 0.9 hectometers of gas will incur Rs400 as fixed monthly charges, and non-protected users consuming up to 1.5 hectometers will face an additional Rs1,000 in their bills.
Furthermore, even consumers with zero gas usage will be subject to the Rs400/monthly fixed charges, according to officials.
