PESHAWAR: The crescent moon of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak was not sighted in Pakistan, delaying the start of the holy month. The moon sighting meeting was held in Peshawar to determine the beginning of Ramadan. However, no reports of moon sighting emerged from major cities, leading to the announcement that fasting will commence on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Religious scholars, weather experts, and officials from various institutions attended the meeting. It was noted that while some areas had clear skies, no credible moon sightings were reported. The Ministry of Religious Affairs later confirmed the decision through an official notification.
Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a period of fasting, spiritual reflection, and devotion. During this time, Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, and negative speech while focusing on prayer, reading the Quran, and charity.
