ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior in Islamabad has authorized the issuance of a red warrant against Zulfi Bukhari, a prominent figure in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. A red warrant is an international request sent to Interpol, seeking the arrest and extradition of an individual.

The Interior Ministry has instructed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to liaise with Interpol's French branch for the issuance of the red warrant against Zulfi Bukhari. This decision is connected to a case related to an attack on the Judicial Complex in Islamabad, which occurred during a court appearance by the PTI Chairman in the Toshakhana case.

According to federal police reports, during former Prime Minister Imran Khan's appearance in the Toshakhana case at the Islamabad Judicial Complex, PTI workers allegedly set police vehicles on fire and clashed with law enforcement officers. This resulted in injuries to 52 policemen due to workers throwing stones at police officials. Additionally, the police claimed that PTI workers and supporters attacked them with petrol bombs, and tear gas was used in response.

Zulfi Bukhari, who formerly served as a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, left the country and has been residing abroad since a case was registered against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act on March 18.
