Relief convoy attacked in Kurram, security concerns rise

KURRAM: A convoy transporting relief goods came under attack in Kurram when unidentified assailants opened fire in the Bagan Ochat area. The convoy, consisting of 100 vehicles, was targeted, but security personnel swiftly retaliated. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.

Despite the attack, the convoy continues its journey under heavy security to ensure the safe delivery of aid. Meanwhile, security forces have taken control of Bagan Bazaar to restore stability in the region.

As part of ongoing security measures, several bunkers in Irfani Kalay, previously occupied by the Watezai and Tori tribes, have been vacated. Authorities have launched a search operation to track down those responsible for recent attacks on convoys.

Earlier, officials had announced a major operation in four locations across the district to root out terrorist elements. Displaced individuals from the area are being relocated to safer locations in Tal and Hangu.

Tensions in Kurram have persisted despite a recent peace agreement between rival tribes. Violence erupted once again when the Deputy Commissioner of Kurram sustained injuries in a firing incident. Efforts continue to restore lasting peace in the region.
