Karachi: Rupee recorded marginal gain to settle at 305.47. At close, rupee was up 0.07 paisa or 0.02 percent as per State Bank of Pakistan. Dollar climbed to new heights against rupee in open-market and hit 331 level during trading.

On Thursday, rupee had closed at then-record low of 305.54 against dollar in inter-bank market.

In key development, State Bank of Pakistan rejected reports making rounds in media about holding an emergency meeting of Monetary Policy Committee, terming them as "Completely baseless".

Internationally, dollar was on course to snap six-week winning streak against major peers, as it headed into pivotal monthly US jobs report that is likely to inform path for Federal Reserve policy over coming months.

Parade of employment and inflation data has paved way to nonfarm payrolls report later in global day, and much of it has been on weaker side, leading traders to pare bets for rate hike on September 20 to 12 percent from 18 percent week ago, according to CME Group's FedWatch tool.

Dollar index-which measures currency against basket of six developed-market peers, including euro, sterling and yen edged 0.05 percent lower to 103.58 on Friday, bringing declines this week to 0.53 percent.

Oil prices, key indicator of currency parity, hovered above $ 87 a barrel as crude prices looked set to set to snap two-week losing streak on Friday, buoyed by expectations of tightening supplies.
