The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has designated ex-Pakistan cricketers Kamran Akmal, Rao Iftikhar Anjum, and Salman Butt as consultant members to aid chief selector Wahab Riaz.

They've officially commenced their roles in the selection panel immediately. Their initial task, as consultants to the chief selector, involves the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand, starting on January 12, 2024, following the conclusion of the Test tour to Australia.

Kamran Akmal, during his 15-year tenure from 2002 to 2017, featured in 53 Tests, 157 ODIs, and 58 T20Is. As a former wicketkeeper-batsman, he accumulated 6,871 runs across formats and secured 453 dismissals behind the stumps. He notably contributed to Pakistan's victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2009 at Lord’s.

Rao Iftikhar participated in one Test, 62 ODIs, and two T20Is from 2004 to 2010, claiming a total of 78 international wickets. He was also part of the triumphant T20 World Cup squad in 2009.

Former Test captain Salman Butt represented Pakistan in 33 Tests, 78 ODIs, and 24 T20Is, accumulating 5,209 runs across these formats, including 11 international centuries. He was also a member of the T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2009.
