It is expected that around 50 Senate members will retire on March 11, maintaining the Senate's total at 96 despite the four seats becoming vacant due to the FATA merger. Subsequent to the general elections, the focus will shift to filling the 48 vacant Senate seats, with participation from members of the national and provincial assemblies in the voting process.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari expressed confidence in the transparency of the upcoming elections while affirming the readiness of the People's Party for the forthcoming general elections. He highlighted the party's capability to contest in any environment and expressed hope for a favorable outcome on February 8, the scheduled date for the countrywide elections.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has confirmed the general elections to be held on February 8. Zardari commended this decision, expressing trust in the commission's ability to conduct fair and transparent elections.
