KARACHI: PPP Sindh leader Sharmila Farooqui visited residence of former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and congratulated him on being honoured with Nishan-e-Imtiaz, highest civilian award in Pakistan, for his meritorious political and national services to country and its people.
In statement, Sharmila said award is great honor not only for people of Sindh but also for provincial government. She said that Syed Qaim Ali Shah is senior most politician of Sindh and great stalwart of Pakistan Peoples' Party. "He is true political companion of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and is also sincere party leader who always stands by PPP leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari," Sharmila said.
She said that Syed Qaim Ali Shah is recognised for his dedicated political career and his significant contributions to Sindh province's governance and national coordination with federal governments during his roles as Chief Minister of Sindh.
Sharmila said, "Syed Qaim Ali Shah is only parliamentarian alive who was part of committee that drafted 1973 Constitution besides being its signatory. He is also largest serving parliamentarian of country as he was elected as MNA twice, MPA seven times and Senator one time.
Qaim Ali Shah's association with late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's Cabinet further underscores his integral role in Pakistan's governance. He held position of senior minister in Sindh Cabinet from 1972 to 1974, contributing significantly to policy formulation and administration.
