Former Finance Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Shaukat Tarin declared his resignation from the party and departure from politics, citing health and financial challenges as primary reasons.
Tarin, recently elected as a senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, endured a difficult period over the past two years.
Previously holding the position of finance minister in 2021 and previously in Yousaf Raza Gilani's cabinet from 2009 to 2010, Tarin had also served as an adviser to the prime minister on finance and revenue.
Additionally, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, a former deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly and an influential PTI figure, announced his resignation from the party and retirement from politics. Abbasi expressed discontent with the party's approach of challenging state institutions, stating that his political journey aimed at serving people, but the strain of confrontation with state institutions had become unbearable.
