The Sindh High Court (SHC) stated on Tuesday that the police appeared to intentionally prolong the detention of Haleem Adil Sheikh.
During a hearing of a petition filed by Sheikh's son seeking information about his father's registered cases, the court made its decision and dismissed the plea.
Emphasizing Sheikh's rights as a Pakistani citizen under the constitution, the court criticized the Sindh police for not adhering to the law properly.
Justice Omar Sial expressed concern about the unusual circumstances of Sheikh's arrest, noting a pattern of repeated arrests by the police every time the PTI leader obtained bail from the courts.
The SHC criticized the prolonged detention by the Sindh police, stating that such actions could undermine the public's trust in the justice system.
Justice Sial urged the Sindh Inspector General of Police to ensure strict law enforcement and transform the police department into an independent institution, aiming to restore public confidence. Sheikh remains detained in all registered cases against him.
Subsequently, the SHC dismissed the petition filed by Sheikh's son.
