KARACHI: The Sindh High Court strongly criticized the frequent shuffling of investigation officers handling enforced disappearance cases, urging authorities to cease unnecessary transfers.
The court, overseeing 15 missing persons cases, emphasized the adoption of modern technology for search operations rather than relying solely on traditional methods.
Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto highlighted the distress of families and stressed the prolonged anguish experienced by relatives visiting courts for years.
During the hearing, an investigation officer mentioned that the missing individual had affiliations with a political party and was involved in local conflicts. The court directed efforts to locate the person, suggesting collaboration with the FIA to trace travel records.
The family members expressed their frustration, having visited courts for nearly a decade, pleading for closure and clarity about their loved one's whereabouts.
The court summoned responses from the Sindh Police I.G., Home Department, and others by December 15 and requested a fresh report from the federal government.
