Shehbaz Sharif greenlights National Youth Employment initiative

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the National Youth Employment Plan to provide market-driven training programs aimed at empowering Pakistani youth. During a review meeting, he endorsed an action plan to offer vocational training and employment opportunities through various institutions over the next four years.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s youth are the country’s most valuable asset, and the government is committed to equipping them with necessary skills for employment.

The plan focuses on promoting the export of manpower by offering international-standard training to Pakistani youth. PM Shehbaz directed officials to establish strong ties with local industries and assess international labor market demands to align training programs with job opportunities. Under this initiative, 2.4 million to 6 million young people will receive training annually, enabling them to secure jobs in various sectors.

The Digital Youth Hub is set to launch this month, providing a dedicated platform for youth development and employment. The government will collaborate with national and international organizations to maximize job opportunities for young people. Training programs will be tailored to industry needs, ensuring that participants gain skills relevant to both local and global markets.

Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, described the National Youth Employment Plan as a revolutionary initiative that supports young people at every stage, from training to employment. The plan covers vocational training, internships, business support, and job placements in various sectors. Specialized training in technology, digital skills, and other high-demand fields will also be introduced.

The government’s goal is to empower young people and contribute to economic growth by creating an enabling environment for skill development and employment. This initiative reflects a long-term commitment to fostering youth talent and equipping them with the skills required to excel in competitive job markets. PM Shehbaz will personally monitor the implementation of the plan through monthly review meetings to ensure its success.

Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, and other senior officials attended the meeting to discuss the plan’s execution and impact.
