KARACHI: Former Prime Minister and President of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), Shehbaz Sharif, has decided not to participate in the election for the NA-242 constituency.
This decision follows the refusal of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) to withdraw its candidate Mustafa Kamal from NA-242. PML-N Senator Nehal Hashmi announced that Khawaja Shoaib will replace Shehbaz Sharif as the PML-N candidate for NA-242, as no consensus was reached with MQM-P for seat adjustment.
Earlier, Khalid Maqbool clarified that Mustafa Kamal would be MQM-P's candidate for NA-242, the same constituency where PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif was also contesting in the general elections. He dismissed reports of seat adjustment with PML-N on NA-242 as baseless. This clarification came amid earlier indications that MQM-P and PML-N had reached an agreement on seat adjustment for Karachi's NA-242 constituency.
