In Lahore, Chaudhry Shujaat, the leader of the PML-Q, has advised the PPP and PML-N to steer clear of conflict, citing that it isn't in the country's best interests. This advice was given during a meeting with former President Asif Ali Zardari, where they discussed Pakistan's current political and economic situation. Shujaat, whose party was part of the previous coalition government, expressed concerns about the ongoing political tensions between the two major parties.
Zardari responded by stating that his party has not engaged in such behavior. He emphasized that they are adhering to the Constitution and the realities on the ground, rather than seeking confrontation. Both agreed that the confrontational approach between the two parties is detrimental to the country's stability. Shujaat urged Zardari to adopt a more cooperative approach and mentioned his intention to discuss the matter with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to avoid unnecessary political hostilities.
It's worth noting that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari recently alleged manipulation in the 2013 Punjab election and a lack of a level playing field, leading to a war of words between the coalition party leaders who had recently governed together following the ouster of PTI Chairman Imran Khan due to a no-confidence motion.
Responding to Bilawal's call for a level playing field, former Defense Minister Khawaja Asif questioned how such a field could be established if it wasn't already prepared. This political rivalry has intensified the already tense political atmosphere in Pakistan, especially as the country is gearing up for general elections in January next year.
