Sindh's Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah asserted on Sunday that the province has strengthened its local government system. Speaking to the media, Shah emphasized that any necessary improvements to the local government law will be enacted by the Sindh Assembly without the need for additional agreements.
He attributed the MQM's agreement with the PML-N to the influence of their reforms, stating that the people of Sindh have granted them a significant mandate, and they must diligently work to fulfill it. Shah expressed confidence in the Pakistan People's Party's ability to secure victory in two vacant Senate seats in Sindh.
Shah raised concerns about encroachments on service roads and the construction of shops over drains in Karachi, calling for accountability for those responsible for the city's degradation.
Regarding the upcoming presidential election on March 9, Shah extended early congratulations to Asif Ali Zardari, outlining plans to pursue a 10-point agenda under Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto's leadership. Shah credited the consecutive fourth government of the People's Party in Sindh to their commitment to serving the people.
Additionally, Shah announced that their candidates, Aslam Abro and Jam Saifullah Dharejo, will submit nomination papers for the two vacant Senate seats, with further nominations from Waqar Mehdi and Aajiz Dhamra. Jam Saifullah Dharejo and Aslam Abro accompanied Shah to the Sindh Election Commission's office for this purpose.
