KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced plans to digitize all educational institutions under the Education Department in the province. The initiative aims to improve school management and the quality of education. During a meeting focused on school education, it was decided that facial recognition technology would be implemented to monitor the attendance of both teachers and students.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah shared that the school administration would be granted greater authority. Direct funding will be provided to each headmaster, allowing them to enhance their respective schools. Additionally, schools will be granted autonomy in managing their expenses, with each institution having its own budget and the ability to make independent financial decisions.
Currently, Sindh has 36,300 primary schools and 2,600 elementary schools, and the government intends to address the disparities between these two levels of education. The goal is to ensure better access to quality education across the province.
In related developments, a report from the Ministry of Education highlighted the significant number of children out of school in Pakistan. Over 26.2 million children are not enrolled in any educational institution, with millions in various age groups missing out on primary, middle, and secondary education. The report underscored the urgent need for initiatives to ensure that more children gain access to education, reflecting the country's ongoing challenges in addressing educational disparities.
