LOS ANGELES: The 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles will showcase some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including Universal Studios, Venice Beach, and Dodger Stadium, as part of a vibrant and diverse venue plan announced by organizers on Tuesday.

The Games will also feature the Olympic debut of squash, along with the return of cricket after over a century.

Universal Studios will host squash at its iconic Courthouse Square, known for its appearances in blockbuster films like "Back to the Future" and "To Kill a Mockingbird." This venue will mark a historic moment for the sport, introducing it to the global Olympic stage.

Venice Beach will serve as the new home for the triathlon, previously slated for Long Beach. The beach will also host the start of both the men's and women's marathons and cycling road races, taking advantage of its scenic coastal backdrop.

In another exciting addition, cricket will make its Olympic return at a specially constructed venue in Pomona, just east of Los Angeles. This marks the first time cricket will be included in the Games since 1900. The surfing competition will take place at Trestles Beach, known for its world-class waves, located about 61 miles from LA in San Clemente.

Baseball will be staged at the historic Dodger Stadium, which previously hosted the sport during the 1984 LA Olympics. Other venues include the Santa Anita Park, which will host equestrian events, and Anaheim's Honda Center, which will feature volleyball competitions.

LA28 organizers, including CEO Reynold Hoover, highlighted that the venue plan was designed to celebrate LA's diverse communities and world-class locations. “We’ve promised the world an incredible Olympic Games, and today we’re proud to share the plan that will make it happen,” Hoover said.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass emphasized the inclusivity of the event, saying, "From the iconic shores of Venice Beach to the hidden gems across our city, this plan will bring the Games to every corner of Los Angeles."

These venues are expected to enhance the Olympic experience, offering a mix of thrilling sports, cultural landmarks, and stunning natural landscapes.
