The interim government of Sindh in Karachi has declared December 27 a public holiday, marking the anniversary of the tragic passing of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister, Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqar, has authorized this province-wide holiday to honor Benazir Bhutto.
As stated by an official spokesperson, the entire province will observe this public holiday to pay tribute to the late leader. A formal notification has been issued, instructing the closure of all Sindh government offices, including autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, on this day.
Benazir Bhutto, a prominent figure in the PPP (Pakistan People's Party), was assassinated on December 27, 2007, during a gun and suicide bomb attack following an election rally in Rawalpindi. Her untimely demise occurred shortly after her return to Pakistan from years spent in self-imposed exile.
