Terror ringleader among 9 killed in DI Khan IBO

RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed nine terrorists, including a high-value ringleader, during a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Takwara area of Dera Ismail Khan on the night between April 6 and 7, 2025, according to a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.

The operation was launched based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the region. As troops approached the location, the militants opened fire, prompting a swift and effective response by the security personnel. Following a fierce exchange of gunfire, nine terrorists were neutralized, including the notorious ringleader identified as Shireen.

The ISPR confirmed that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site, further strengthening the security forces' efforts to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the area.

Shireen was one of the most wanted militants and was actively pursued by law enforcement agencies for his involvement in numerous terrorist attacks. He was notably responsible for the martyrdom of Captain Hasnain Akhtar in a targeted attack on March 20, 2025. His elimination marks a significant achievement for the security forces.

“Today’s operation has avenged the heinous act and has brought the main perpetrator to justice,” the ISPR stated.

In the aftermath of the operation, a thorough sanitization process is being carried out to ensure the area is completely cleared of any remaining threats. Security forces have reaffirmed their resolve to eradicate terrorism and restore peace across the country.

In a separate incident, the ISPR reported that security forces also thwarted an attempted infiltration along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. A group of militants tried to cross into Pakistani territory through Hassan Khel in North Waziristan District. Alert troops responded swiftly, engaging the intruders in an intense gunfight.

As a result of the exchange, eight terrorists—referred to as Khwarij by the ISPR—were killed, while four others were injured. The operation successfully prevented the infiltration and underscored the vigilance of Pakistani forces along the sensitive border region.

The ISPR emphasized Pakistan’s continued calls on the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side to prevent the movement of terrorists across the border.

These operations demonstrate Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to rooting out terrorism and securing its borders from internal and external threats.
