Thai CG meets Karachi Mayor, extends cultural invitation

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab met with the Consul General of Thailand, Mr. Surashete Boontinand, during his visit to the city. The meeting highlighted mutual interest in strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties between Karachi and Thailand.

Mayor Wahab warmly welcomed the Consul General on behalf of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and expressed condolences over the recent earthquake in Thailand. He conveyed solidarity with the Thai people and expressed hope for their swift recovery.

The two officials discussed potential areas of cooperation, including cultural exchange, tourism, and investment opportunities. Mayor Wahab emphasized Karachi’s openness to international collaboration, particularly in the fields of trade and urban development.

Mr. Boontinand expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Mayor and acknowledged Karachi’s importance as a cultural and economic hub. He shared ongoing initiatives by the Thai Consulate to promote bilateral engagement.

As a gesture of friendship, the Consul General invited Mayor Wahab to attend an upcoming cultural festival to be held at the Thai Consulate. The event will showcase Thai traditions, cuisine, and performing arts.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to enhancing cooperation and people-to-people ties between Thailand and the city of Karachi.
