In Karachi, the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police has given strict orders to police officers to promptly register complaints and take strong actions against criminals.
To reduce crime in the province, IG Sindh, Dr. Riffat Mukhtar, led a high-level meeting where he instructed officers to implement tough measures to control crime.
During the meeting, the IG Sindh told officers to register complaints ("First Information Reports" or FIRs) without charging any fees, saying, "I won't ask how many FIRs have been filed, but I will take strong action if FIRs are not registered."
He stressed that not registering complainants' FIRs could lead to problems and gave District Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) full authority to work independently. He assured full support to these district SSPs and encouraged them to carry out their duties honestly.
The IG Sindh praised the Special Branch for compiling lists of drug-related crimes, including activities related to narcotics and the gutka mafia. He promised to take severe action against those involved using these lists.
IG Sindh Riffat Mukhtar instructed police officials to take strict action against street criminals in Karachi and ordered intelligence-based operations against dacoits throughout the city.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining records for High-Risk Management Systems (HRMS) and the Police Record Management System (PRMS).
