KARACHI: The Dumper and Oil Tankers Association organized a sit-in on the National Highway to protest against the recent incidents of vehicle burnings by unidentified miscreants.

Liaquat Mehsud, president of the dumper owners' association, stated that dumpers had been granted entry into the city through a court order and demanded legal action against the vehicles involved in accidents.

In the latest incidents, three cargo vehicles and a water tanker were set on fire by unknown individuals in the areas of Landhi, Korangi, Al-Karam, and Surjani Town in Karachi. Following these acts of vandalism, police have detained 10 individuals for their involvement in the vehicle burnings.

In another unfortunate event, a motorbike rider was killed after being run over by a dumper truck at Hawkes Bay Road near Musharraf Colony. The driver of the dumper fled the scene after the incident.

This series of vehicle burnings and accidents has raised concerns as 102 citizens have lost their lives in the first 42 days of this year alone. Early this morning, two trucks and a cargo trailer were set on fire in a similar fashion by unknown suspects. These individuals reportedly carried out surprise raids, setting the vehicles ablaze before escaping from the scene, according to police reports.

The authorities are investigating these incidents, while transporters continue to demand stronger measures to ensure their safety and address the rising violence against vehicles.
