On the second anniversary of the passing of the comedy legend Umer Sharif, fans are fondly remembering him. Born on April 19, 1960, in Liaquatabad, Karachi, Sharif's illustrious career in comedy and acting left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry.

Sharif began his journey in the world of entertainment on the stage with the name 'Umer Zarif' before adopting the name 'Umer Sharif.' His career took off when he started as a stage performer in Karachi at the age of 19 in 1974.

In 1980, he released his dramas on audio cassettes, and his popularity transcended borders, earning him a substantial fan base in India as well. Some of his well-known comedy stage plays include 'Bakra Qistoon Pe,' 'Meri Bhi to Eid Kra Day,' and 'Buddha Ghar Pe Hy.'

Umer Sharif's legacy extends beyond his performances; he wrote scripts for over 70 plays and excelled as an actor, director, and writer simultaneously. His contributions were recognized with two national awards in 1992, one for best director and another for best actor. Remarkably, he was the only actor to receive four Nigar Awards in a single year.
