A senior official from the World Health Organization (WHO) revealed that over 8,000 individuals in Gaza urgently require medical treatment outside the region.
Dr. Richard Peeperkorn, the WHO's representative for Gaza and the West Bank, conveyed to journalists on Tuesday that approximately 6,000 individuals require treatment for injuries and health issues stemming from conflict-related incidents.
These include patients grappling with severe trauma injuries, burns, and amputations. Additionally, around 2,000 patients are in need of medical care for cancer and other critical chronic illnesses.
The WHO emphasized the importance of relocating these patients from Gaza to alleviate the burden on local healthcare providers and hospitals, which are facing significant challenges in maintaining operations amidst the ongoing conflict.
