Yemen's Houthi rebels launched drones towards Israel on Tuesday in response to Israel's conflict with Hamas, according to a senior Houthi official.
The official, Abdelaziz bin Habtour, stated that the drones were from Yemen and that the Houthi rebels consider themselves part of the "axis of resistance" against Israel, using both words and drones in their fight. Israel's military reported a "hostile aircraft intrusion" in the Eilat area, but they downplayed any significant threat.
The Houthis had also been blamed for a previous drone attack on Israel, and there was an incident involving the US Navy intercepting Houthi-launched missiles and drones. The Houthis were expected to release more details about their involvement in the "resistance" against Israel. This situation occurs amid Israel's military actions in the Gaza Strip since an incursion by Hamas gunmen on October 7, resulting in a significant number of casualties.
